Tokyo Tower

SN310509.jpg

Earlier today, I went to a hospital to visit my friend who is recovering from an operation. I didn’t even realise Tokyo Tower was nearby, let alone right outside, until she pointed it out to me from the hospital’s in-house restaurant. I’ve only been to the Tokyo Tower once and that was a little over 10 years ago…

ミューボット

mubot_sml.jpg ミューボット (mu-bot) comes from non other than Sega Toys, the guys that brought us iDog and iFish. This time though, Sega Toys have teamed up with Avex Entertainment Inc. for this product (Avex? Anything to do with the music label, Avex Trax?). To be honest, I don’t really see the appeal nor am I 100% sure what either of these bots do. All I know is, it’s suppose to be some kinda virtual pet which hooks up to your iPod, plays music through its built in speakers, moves to music, flashes multi-coloured lights, dances from a pat on the head, etc. But anyway…

Happy with life in your country?

map.gif

If it is happiness you are seeking, a move to Denmark could be in order, according to the first scientist to make a world map of happiness.

Denmark came top, followed closely by Switzerland and Austria. The UK ranked 41st. Zimbabwe and Burundi came bottom.

Mr White, who is an analytic social psychologist at the university, said: “When people are asked if they are happy with their lives, people in countries with good healthcare, a higher GDP [gross domestic product] per capita, and access to education were much more likely to report being happy.”

Panasonic Lumix L1 + others

l1_01_sml.jpgYes, the Panasonic Lumix L1 D-SLR is finally here and boy does it look and feel super-retro! For whatever reason, the Lumix L1 is not getting anywhere near the amount of attention the Sony a100 is getting. There’s only 2 Lumix L1s on display and no one is really looking at them. Instead, the crowd is sucking up to Sony’s a100! And they have 8 on display! Hmmmmm…..

Panasonic’s Lumix L1 does not come cheap. It costs more than a Nikon D200 and it virtually doubles the price of Sony’s a100. I mean, that’s a pretty bold move (the pricing) from Panasonic because just like Sony’s a100, the Lumix L1 is Panasonic’s first stab at D-SLR market. Yes, I know and am sure the Leica lenses are top notch but hey, the Carl Zeiss lenses on Sony’s a100 is no slouch either. So yeah, the pricing is something worthy of debate.

Bonodori

bon_1_sml.jpg

The Bon dance festival is happening again on the grounds of a school near my home. Can you believe it’s already another year? Time seems to fly faster each and every year. Before you know it, I’d be collecting my pensions!

Anyway, was walking towards my home when my iPod nano’s battery depleted therefore the sound of traditional Japanese music caught my ears. As I got closer to my home, the beatings of the drum got louder and louder therefore I knew they’re holding the event at the school again so I thought I’d drop by.

Glaxo has bird flu ‘breakthrough’

UK drugs firm GlaxoSmithKline believes it has developed a vaccine for the H5N1 deadly strain of bird flu that may be capable of being mass produced by 2007.

Glaxo said its new vaccine would give limited immunity to bird flu in the event of a pandemic. A second shot would be necessary for complete immunisation, the company said.

Glaxo says its vaccine is more akin to shotgun treatment than a “precision-rifle cure”, which means that it appears to be effective against small mutations in the virus strain.

However, it has yet to determine the effectiveness of the vaccine against big changes in the H5N1 strain.

Wireless Mighty Mouse

mmouse.jpgFinally, after a year, Apple has released the much wanted wireless Mighty Mouse. I wonder if this will also be a big hit like the original Mighty Mouse when it came out last year. It was like, “Wow! An original Apple mouse with multi-buttons!”. So yeah, I was aching for one.

Back then, I remember I went to a good few dealers when it was released and every dealer told me they had sold out literally as soon as they got them in. I think it took 2 weeks before I finally got my hands on one. And once I did, it took me a while to get used to the darn thing. Because of the touch sensors, your fingers had to be placed in the right place otherwise the buttons wouldn’t respond properly. I didn’t like it that much back then but it has since grown on me. I don’t think I can be without it now.

Anyway, I already have 2 wired Mighty Mouses and I see no real need for a wireless one right now therefore I’m gonna give it a miss… for now ;)

Welcome to my new website

New Name. New design. New software. New server.

My previous blog site was launched exactly 3 years ago and is seriously starting to look it’s age therefore I decided it is time for a re-design. And here it is! What do you think? Didn’t think I could make it any more simpler than the my previous blog? Hahahahahaha….
