ミューボット
ミューボット (mu-bot) comes from non other than Sega Toys, the guys that brought us iDog and iFish. This time though, Sega Toys have teamed up with Avex Entertainment Inc. for this product (Avex? Anything to do with the music label, Avex Trax?). To be honest, I don’t really see the appeal nor am I 100% sure what either of these bots do. All I know is, it’s suppose to be some kinda virtual pet which hooks up to your iPod, plays music through its built in speakers, moves to music, flashes multi-coloured lights, dances from a pat on the head, etc. But anyway…
Coming this December 2006, Sega Toys will release the mu-bot, something for the iPod (or any music player from the looks of it) which seems to be even more useless despite being very cute and stylish (this alone will make me buy one, probably). In short, its nothing more than a pair of earphones. Yep, that’s right! The mu-bot’s hands are earphones and the cord can be reeled from inside the head of the figure. There is also a clip on the back of the torso for those who want to clip the thing onto their shirt pocket or bag. With a price tag of only ¥2,500, I seriously doubt the sound quality is something worth raving about.
Anyway, for the moment, there is no website for this product but there is a Japanese PDF press release article which has some information and illustrations (both illustrations, I have posted here anyway). The PR can be found here (look for: 2006年7月14日 - ミュージック・ロボットキャラクタートイ『mu-bot(ミューボット)』発売)
How cute! I’d defintly paint a smiley face on him though.
