Blade ‘Complete Box’

blade_complete_box.jpg

I totally missed this but apparently this Medicom RAH 12-inch Blade figure was bundled with a ‘Japan only’ limited Blade trilogy box set back in March. The box set is called ‘Blade Complete Box’ and contains all 3 Blade movies on 5 discs (2 of which are probably special features discs), a special comic that was made specifically for the Blade Trinity DVD release, and a 12-inch Blade figure (comic version) with wires lined inside the coat for extra cool poses!

Eye test ‘could spot Alzheimer’s’

Early dementia could be detected with a simple eye test, similar to those used to test for high blood pressure and diabetes, US scientists believe.

The test, developed by a team led by Dr Lee Goldstein, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, uses a non-invasive laser to study the lens of the eye.

It checks for deposits of beta-amyloid - the protein found in the brains of those with Alzheimer’s disease.

Pokemon DS Lite

pokemon_ds.jpgNintendo seems to have got into the habit of pumping out new colours and special editions of their DS Lite, now-a-days. Hot on the heels of the Final Fantasy edition comes the Pokemon edition which will be available from 1st September. I think this Pokemon DS Lite is rather cute with Pikachu faces on the front of the cover.

But why didn’t Nintendo go all the way and make this DS unit in yellow, or orange, or any other colour? Same goes for the Final Fantasy edition. Personally, I think these special editions would be more unique if they were made in a colour that is different from all the stand-alone units. Don’t you think? So, come on Nintendo, if you’re gonna make these units special, then put a little more effort into it and make them special.

TMNT teaser trailer

TMNT.jpgThe new CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie slated for March 2007 is shaping up to be rather slick! At first I had my doubts regarding how good this CGI movie can visually look. Reason being, it is being made in a little-heard-of studio in Hong Kong. Bias, I know. I just can’t help but think, when it comes to CG, you can’t beat US and/or Japan. Oh well, not the first time I’ve been proven wrong anyway.

Anyway, the TMNT teaser starts off great: dark, moody, serious, and how the Turtle’s eyes are just white with no pupil. As it reaches the end… erm… hmmmm… you’ll just have to see for yourself…

New Nikon D-SLR! Woot!

nikon_d80_teaser.jpgWooooooo… could this be the successor to the Nikon D70s? I can definitely see some Nikon D50 looks in there, though. Or might it be an update D50, the D50s? Either way, I’m totally excited!

I was so tempted to get myself a S70s not so long ago but because it had already been on the market for like a year, I was worried that a successor would surface soon therefore I gave up on the idea of buying it. And thank god, I did just that! Otherwise, I’d be beating my own b*lls right now if I bought the D70s!

Anyway, 20 days till we can see this beauty! The countdown begins! Damn, I’m broke…

Today’s ramblings

sony_sml.jpg1. Sony a100 D-SLR
The Sony a100 came on sale today and Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara had a good 8-10 units on display for all those enthusiasts to get their grubby hands on. And I was one of them. Hahahahahha…. anyway. The cam is very nice in appearance and feels well built but the material quality on the other hand is… erm… dunno how to say. Lets put it this way, the material on the Sony does not feel as nice as those of the Nikon D200 and Canon 30D, but it is 1000x better than the material on the Canon Digital KISS (which in my opinion, has the cheapest material on any D-SLR). The menu layout is pretty simple and usable, but having 2 dials feels a bit weird. But all-in-all, the Sony is nicer than I had expected. But still, when it comes to D-SLRs, my preferred choices is still Nikon and Canon.

What’s up doc?

ulala_staring.jpgLast Friday, I took Ulala to Saito Rabbit Clinic in Tabata because of his weeping-eye problem which has never recovered for the last 3 months despite seeing my local vet 3-4 times already. The clinic oozes nothing super hi-tec, just modest. One thing that struck me was the amount of employees they have there. To add to that, I was the only customer. Anyway, a specialist is a specialist! Before I made the visit, I had called and mentioned about weeping-eyes, that was all. As soon as I was called into the doc’s office, all the neccessary syringes, etc. was already waiting for Ulala. I didn’t really need to say anything else as she just did her stuff with a super annoyed Ulala.

Isaack in town

isaack.jpgIsaack, a long time reader of this site, is in town for a visit and we met up today and went around shopping in Akihabara and Shinjuku for his electronic gadgets. He’s a pretty sincere and friendly guy and can be damn hilarious at times.

Funny thing is, if you’ve ever read his blog, you’d no doubt know that this guy lusts over and buys literally every gadget that comes out. Truth is, he didn’t buy a single thing today despite the seduction from all of the cool looking Japanese gadgets from every electronic store here. Actually, the guy seems a little stingey. Hahahaha…

Unfortunately, he is only here for a day or two so I probably won’t get to see him again during the rest of his stay.

押忍!闘え!応援団

ossu.jpg押忍!闘え!応援団 (Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) is a unique Nintendo DS game which came out last year in July and is actually a little difficult to find now-a-days. Most DS owners decided to jump on the DS bandwagon because of this game.

This game is kinda like “Simon Says”: you see things appear on the screen and you have to follow using the stylus (tap, draw, etc.), accordingly. With each correct move, you are also contributing a beat to the game’s music. The concept of the game goes like this: you take control of a band of male cheerleaders and your job is to motivate someone to achieve whatever they set out to do.
