SIGMA SD14 D-SLR
Another new D-SLR. This time, by renowned lens maker, Sigma (their lenses are hit and misses). To be honest, I didn’t even know Sigma made cameras until now. I alwyas thought they soley concentrated on lens like Tamron. Or do Tamron make cameras too? I’ve never really paid attention because for me, it’s either Canon or Nikon, period.
Anyway, this Sigma D-SLR will debut in Photokina in Germany on September 26th. For now, check out the Sigma SD14 D-SLR teaser.
You believe that all digital cameras capture all colours? You’re satisfied with a sensor that detects one colour per pixel?
You believe that all Raw data is created equal?
If you could have fundamentally better technology, would you settle for added, improved functions instead?
The truth will soon be revealed…
Update 15:55pm: leaked images can be found here.
I saw a couple photos of this. It looks like a hunk of cheap plastic.
Yeah? Where are the pics?
Update:
Ah, found. You’re right… it looks cheap sh*t! Pics here.
Well, Canon is cheap as well…I had a 20d and it was crap…
Really…. Cameras make images ! The Sigma/Foveon cameras work well. Yep ! SD9/10 is slow and a bit crude. It also makes stunning images. I own 5 different D-SLRS. 5 megpix,6.3 megpix,8 megapix,10.2 megapix, and a SD10. What do i turn to for the best image quality ? My Sigma. No i am not a equipment junkie. But I make alot of people happy and alot of money with my cameras. I have different camera systems for different reasons. My Sigma is still the best though ! It kills everything else hands-down for quality shots. But hey whatever works for you !!! With comments like “it’s cheap plastic” you must masturbate thinking about overpriced hi-megapixel brand name cameras. It’s about great pictures… “GREAT THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT” and i don’t mind waiting for my “cheap piece of plastic that looks like sh*t to make great photos happens.
To the guy who owns 5 different cameras: 5 mp, 6.3 mp, 8 mp, 10.2 mp, and SD10, and whom masturbates over cheap-shit materials, heres more information regarding that so-called great cam: here and here (material looks a “little” less cheap).
You know, Prakticaboy (now thats a cheap name you go by), it would be also great if you could linked to your hompage (rather than linking to your fav music artist’s) to show us your “made a lot of people happy and a lot of money” photographs. I admit, I don’t know much about photography, but I do like to learn and see great photos from a pro like yourself…
PS.
I have directed/conducted/worked with a lot of pro photographers on photoshoots for the likes of VISA, Toyota, etc., and each and every photographer used Canons, regardless of film or digital. Needless to say, all these first-class international clients were beyond happy with the photos (used internationally) and paid a lot for them. Hmmmmm… makes me wonder why non of these pro photographers ever had a Sigma camera onhand…
Maximum respect! Peace!
Well, Canon and Nikon surely offer better services for professionals worldwide - and their cameras surely are of better quality. It’s a risk to try out something completely new (made by a company without special services for professionals) when clients like Visa or Toyota demand a perfect workflow. The Sigma-cameras have to be improved (I hope, the SD14 is), the pictures are already unbeatable.
As bad as it sounds, I don’t have a website. I am not in to making websites nor do I have any desire to have one made. I am not into it for very good reasons, and I am not going to explain. As for the name “Prakticaboy”, Praktica was my very first camera, It amazed me, it brought me into the world of photography, so i have much respect for it. As for saying I am a “Pro” maybe I am, that doesn’t matter, Checkout kenrockwell.com and read the was he has to say Being a professional photographer and what makes pro-camera. Many other things there as well. As for the specs on the SD14 they are still not what they should be. Like flash sync speed, read/write speed, only SA-Mount lenses, but there are other things that do. Maybe I will buy it when my SD10 dies, if it works for me. And by the way I never said Nikon,Canon,Pentax,Fuji,or Olympus makes bad cameras, In fact I own some of the above cameras. They all have their pros and cons.
