PlayStation 3 unleashed!
Yep, the mutha of all consoles was finally launched today and a few friends, Danny, Roy and Brad, have got themselves one and they seem more than happy with their new purchase. Congrats on that!
Although I had stated my reasons for not wanting one, I did have this bad impulsive urge to get one after I spoke to Roy. I spoke to Roy at 3am this morning while he was lining up and he told me, “there’s probably 400 people lining up now. The shop staff said they have more enough units for everyone here. You know, if you come down now, you can get one”. Damn, can you imagine what was going through my head after I heard that? Yes, I really wanted to get my butt into a taxi and burn down there to join him in the queue for a brand-spanking new PS3! But I couldn’t because I had a deadline (for something I’m working on) for 5am EST time which happens to be 7am here - the time the PS3 starts rolling into the hands of consumers. I spoke to Roy again at about 6am and he told me it got rather chaotic with over a thousand people pushing and shoving - something I can’t deal with!
Anyway, so yeah, because of my deadline, I couldn’t go get a PS3. So, is that lucky or unlucky?

And you call me a rich boy… first… you considered taking a cab in Tokyo, second, taking a cab to buy a PS3 in the middle of the night.

When all the chaos started and then the rain, I didn’t think lining up for 16 hours was worth it. But after getting home and getting a chance to really use the thing. The bad experience faded away. The PS3 is really nice. I thought I would not like the design but it looks really good standing up beside my TV. I don’t have a decent DVD player or any other game console so my setup currently looks very clean.
Also, the graphics on RidgeRacer 7 are amazing! Since I’m in HK for 2 weeks and can’t use the PS3 I was going to call and see if you wanted to borrow it but there just wasn’t enough time. Sorry..

Man, thats cool of you but I doubt I would have even taken it out of the box for fear of scratching your brand-spanking new machine! You know, it’s just totally unhip to have scratches on an expensive machine like that. Worse if it was inflicted by others other than yourself. I wouldn’t be able to live with it - I’d die of stress… quietly…
