Adobe PS Lightroom v1

lightroom.jpg

Since my Adobe Lightroom beta is about to expire, I downloaded the 30-day trial of the final version, Photoshop Lightroom v1.0, for a test run. But so far, I don’t think I’ve come across anything significantly newer and/or better than what was already in the beta version. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great piece of software but I expected a lot more to have been implemented since the last beta release.

Hmmmmm….. US$200 for this or US$300 for Apple’s Aperture. I think I’ll also download the trial version of Aperature and see for myself which is better for my needs…

Takara Jin-Roh in Genx Core

jin_roh.jpgActually, it is Kerberos Panzer Cop/Jin-Roh Protect-Gear – Kohakumaru Chuichi (小白丸忠一) in Genx Core to be exact (what a mouthful, huh?). Anyway, this figure came out in the end of December 2006 (or early January 2007?) and is based on the Jin-Roh (人狼) – The Wolf Brigade manga and anime.

This is the second Takara figure to use the new Genx Core male body after Batman Begins in GC. And just like the Batman, this Jin-Roh figure is produced in very limited amounts (even more so than Batman) with most being sold out during the pre-order phase! Needless to say, these figures are now difficult to track down in Tokyo. And it’s not hard to see why – this figure really is the creme-of the-crop! Not only is it ultra-detailed, standing at 12-inches tall, includes a wealth of accessories, it also sports masses amount of joint movement (afterall, its the Genx Core body)!

Sony’s iPod docking speakers

CPF-IP001.jpg… the iPod Audio Docking Stationspacer CPF-IP001. Hahahahaha… Sony has finally surrendered to the iPod’s popularity. Sony should stop updating their MP3 players every 90 days – the amount of MP3 players (and digicams) Sony throws out in a year is crazy!

Anyway, the speaker is equipped with an ipod connector and is compatible with 1G and 2G Nano, 4G and 5G iPods, and the 1G Mini iPod. The speaker includes a subwoofer with a powerful S-Master amplifier for superior sound yet it is small and light enough to be placed in any room of your home. Of course, a remote is included.

To be honest, I like the look of these speakers but the price tag is rather heavy. Actually, come to think of it, if I ever do buy a pair of speakers for my iPod, it will be either Apple’s iPod Hi-Fi, or nothing. Hahahahaha… bet you saw that coming! I’m such a sucker for all things Apple… (^_^;)

Scientists ‘reverse’ vCJD signs

Symptoms of prion diseases, such as the human form of mad cow disease vCJD, can be reversed, a study of mice suggests.

The MRC team looked at mice which were in the early stages of a vCJD-like disease and having problems with memory and behaviour.

In some of these mice, scientists then used an enzyme to switch off the gene that makes the normal prion protein when the rodents are about nine weeks old – equivalent to adolescence.

The animals were seen to experience a reversal in their symptoms.
