Takara Jin-Roh in Genx Core

jin_roh.jpgActually, it is Kerberos Panzer Cop/Jin-Roh Protect-Gear - Kohakumaru Chuichi (小白丸忠一) in Genx Core to be exact (what a mouthful, huh?). Anyway, this figure came out in the end of December 2006 (or early January 2007?) and is based on the Jin-Roh (人狼) - The Wolf Brigade manga and anime.

This is the second Takara figure to use the new Genx Core male body after Batman Begins in GC. And just like the Batman, this Jin-Roh figure is produced in very limited amounts (even more so than Batman) with most being sold out during the pre-order phase! Needless to say, these figures are now difficult to track down in Tokyo. And it’s not hard to see why - this figure really is the creme-of the-crop! Not only is it ultra-detailed, standing at 12-inches tall, includes a wealth of accessories, it also sports masses amount of joint movement (afterall, its the Genx Core body)!

And lucky me, I found a dealer who had a few in stock therefore I snapped one up right away. But just like with all my other toys I’ve accumulated, I can’t bring myself to open it up! Damn, I hate dust! I’ll probably end up selling all my toys sooner or later - it just seems like a waste for them to stay boxed up…

UPDATE 2007/02/22 - I’m selling one of these, check it out.

    Hi Eddie,
Any idea where the name Kohakumaru Chuichi came from? Manga, anime or radio show?

    Ed,
Too bad I was not aware of your blog before I went to Japan then else it would have been fun to meet up a fellow toy fan. Yea, the Japanese are selective when it comes to foreign heroes!

Any chance you can provide some info on toy spots in akihabara? I was unable to cover much ground there.

Erm… actually, I love toys but I rarely ever buy. It’s one of those things: I really want but after I buy, I’m not exactly gonna do anything with them. They don’t even get opened thus taking up space. And let’s face it, it’s a frikkin’ expensive hobby! 5x 12-inches figures, thats like US$1,000!

I don’t know too many toy spots in Akiba to be honest. There is that big yellow sign building near the station (you went). On the main road (station side), there is one called ASOBIT CITY, and further down the road on the same side, there is another 3 (2 big, 1 small. Dunno the names). Plus, a few small ones scattered around the back streets on the other side of the road. These shops mainly sell more Japanese toys and figures. American Imports, they only stock a handful.

In Ebisu, there is one toy shop that specialises in importing US toys. They have very, very little business but since I found it 2 years ago, they are still in business today! I thought they would have closed down by now but I was there last week. They have like… a dozen of Hot Toys Superman, DC Clark Kent, ED 209 (massive one - maybe medicom??), etc.

I am very interested in purchasing this figure as soon as possible. Everywhere I look there is a wait till late summer. Can you help me get a protect gear kohakumaru figure, if so it will be much appreciated. Thanks,

    -Scot
