Plum trees blossom

I went to Ome yesterday which is about 1 hr 30 mins train ride away from central Tokyo (Ome is still Tokyo) to see some blossomed plum trees. Ome city is pretty famous for plum trees and there are lots of parks/gardens around. Because I woke up rather late (I arrived in Ome at 3:30pm), I only visited one place called ‘Ume no koen’ which literally translate to Plum Garden (15 mins walk from the station) and it happened to be rather crowded. This place has lots of plum trees and they were all in blossom - the whole place was white, pink and purple.
Unfortunately, I took the wrong lens with me for the Nikon D80 - the 50mm f/1.8D. Shooting scenes at 75mm is ridiculous! 75mm is literally at telephoto range and every scene I pointed the camera at, everything was super close, doh! And the frikkin’ lens tends to flare quite badly (as you can see from some of the pics) and I didn’t have a lens hood! This is the first time I decided to use the lens for scenery mainly because I didn’t fancy carrying a heavier lens with me and what a big mistake that was. Totally wasted this opportunity (I don’t go out sightseeing that often, if ever). So, yeah, I was rather pissed that I wasn’t able to capture scenes at a wider angle. And to top it off, I walked straight into a tree while messing with the camera. Yep, thats right! My forehead (and to the right side of my eye) is all grazed and cut. I have no idea how many people saw my performance (cuz I was in pain) but since the place was quite packed, I guess most people nearby would have witnessed the loud smack, my glasses hanging off, and me clutching my forehead! And yes, I did feel like a right looser!
Anyway, enjoy the pics…

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d like to see a pic of the bruised forehead.
that real cool. i was going to take some pics of some blossom here in the states, but your blossoms put mine to shame!. Hey is there any way I can use the High res versions of those pics?. I would like them for wall papers. thx!
Yeah, Ome is really great. Especially the Yoshino Baien (I think that is what it is called). I usually go a couple times a year. Its within easy reach by bicycle and sitting under the Plum blossoms is a great place to rest.
very nice photos! Another cherry blossom season again!

> “within easy reach”
Hahahahaha… I’m 10 mins walk away from the nearest station and getting there is one major task for me! I’m so unfit these days…
