Apartment auto-locks

11.jpg

In Japan (and most of the world), a lot of apartments have something known as ‘auto-lock’ on the entrance of an apartment complex. Basically, it just locks the entrance automatically within 5 seconds once the door closes. To be able to enter the apartment complex you will have to be a resident with either a key or a passcode (usually 4 digits). Auto-locks contribute towards security which gives the residents a piece-of-mind and allows the owner/landlord to charge a little more for their rooms. Anyway, lets forget about the details and pros and cons…

Take a look at the picture below which I took today of an apartment near my home that has auto-lock installed. See anything unusual?

Tip: above the letter boxes

Yes, thats an open area. The letterbox wall is approx. 3ft high which basically means I, at 5ft 10.5″ tall, can literally step over it (probably split my pants, though) bypassing the auto-locked doors and into the corridor of the complex!

Oh how I love designs that defeats the purpose of a purpose

Didn’t you see that there are motion sensors and taser guns that cover the open area? Any intruders jumping over the wall will be electrocuted right there.

Something similar here is “Waterfront property”. If you can see the ocean. lake or large body of water it’s Waterfront property. Therefore, worth ask some ridiculous price for the property.
