Baby Crabs

I was in the supermarket just before and came across these wrapped baby crabs. And boy were they super-active! Being in Japan, of course I get to see lots of fresh moving seafood here in supermarkets like abalone, larger crabs, shrimps/prawns, shell fishes, etc., but they usually look less active because the trays they are in just about fits them hence they have no space for movement (well, you don’t get much movement from things like abalone anyway).

But with these tiny crabs in a large tray, you get too see them run around and on top of each other! Because of their activeness, my attention was caught. I wanted to buy ‘em and keep ‘em as pets! Hahahaha… they were cute.

With crabs this small, there is not much ways how you can cook them, I guess. Here in Japan, they’re usually just all dropped into a big pan of boiling oil and deep fried - served as an additional snack when drinking beer… poor little chaps…

I ate the deep-fried little crabs before, didn’t like them. Now I wondering what do crabs normally eat since you mentioned you wanted to keep them as pets LOL.

Gosh, to have the sticker saying these crabbies are for deap-frying…I’d be quite offended as a crab. At least let my buyer choose how to prepare me…
