London 2012 Olympic logo

Well, today the London 2012 Olympic games logo design is revealed and will continue to evolve for the next few years. It looks pretty fresh, simplistic and contemporary but I really don’t know if I like it or not and nor do I know what it is trying to say/how to interpret the thing. Oh well, it’ll probably grow on me as time goes by….
To be very honest, I’m more concerned if we will have ‘everything’ ready by the time the games start. Knowing the British and their laxness, I’m worried whether the new venue (and whatever else) they are building will even be ready by then or not (London Eye anyone… ?). Imagine that. With the whole world’s attention on London and we don’t make it? Damn, sends shivers down my spine… fingers crossed.

The official press release has this to say about the logo:
The new Olympic emblem is based on the number 2012 – the year the Games take place and includes the Olympic Rings and the word London.
For the first time the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games emblems have been based on the same core shape.
Available in four colours – pink, blue, green and orange – the new emblem is modern and will be dynamic, evolving in the years between now and 2012.
It symbolises the Olympic spirit and the ability of the Games to inspire people to take part – not just as spectators, but as volunteers, in the Cultural Olympiad and more.
Actually, does the logo look like a dancing man to you? No? Here, let me illustrate it:

Hahahahahahaha! I love it!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing the London 2012 Olympic logo again in a few years time and see how it has evolved. Till then…

Its really really bad, I have come up with an alternative design on my site that is free and I think better than that Lisa Simpson giving head design.
My first guess would be that the logo is an extremely abstract representation of the Earth’s continents…?
hahah. It _does_ look like Lisa Simpson giving head.
