Tokyo Plastic Geisha GET!

Fresh from New York! Yep, the very Geisha/Kokeshi from Tokyo Plastic’s Drum Machine!
This vinyl doll cost me US$59.99 to buy but US$47.20 to ship to Tokyo (and that was the cheaper method without tracking)! But it’s worth it because they are ‘limited designer vinyls’ (300 pieces) and the fact that I’ve wanted one for years but totally missed out on all 3 of the previous releases (by like 2 years, doh!).

A few months ago, I found this guy who was selling all 3 colours of the previously released dolls (also limited). But they were not brand new - they had been displayed on his shelf. And he wanted US$450 for them all (complete with boxes and accessories). Too bad I don’t like to do used. If they were brand new, maybe I would have considered. But still, US$450 is rather steep considering back in the days when they were released, they only cost US$40 each. Well, I guess that is what ‘limited’ means…

The old dolls were about 3.5-inches or so tall. This new one I got is a whopping 12-inches tall (I placed my iPod touch next to the doll to give you an idea of the size)! And it’s much better quality! I’m so happy I finally got one! There is also an exclusive Octopus version for US$75. I like the colour of the doll but I don’t feel too hot about the octopus illustration on it’s back. Hmmmm… I wonder if I want that too…

Unfortunately, these are the best pics I am able to take (for now) because I’m still unsure if I want to remove the doll from it’s packaging. Yeah, I know, I’m crazy anal.
Anyway, I ordered my doll from here. Get yours while you can!

i like how they are so big in size, it really compliments the design. and yes i need an apple gadget soon!
Ooooh, how I love her. I should share that less than a year ago I got into vinyls, and the previous release of these geishas were what I wanted. I’d been trying to track them down forever, but I have a whole used thing too. My BF managed to snag a small white one, and he’s the one who bought me both the red and octopus geishas, since he knew I wanted them since forever. I’d seen Drum Machine like 2 years ago and didn’t realize they crossed over to another medium.
wow, sorry about the wall. Congrats on your Geisha, I opened mine because I had to hug them, then I packed them up.
wow!! so cool!! i want one!!
