MSN IM – all contacts lost
MSN IM is just so awesome! Microsoft rocks! For no f*ing reason, all my contacts on MSN IM are gone (it was all fine 2 hours ago)! Well, not exactly ‘all’ gone but more like, all but five contacts. Two of whom , I have blocked. Another two, I haven’t seen come online for decades. Yes, that means just 1 contact left!
Two months ago, MSN IM would no longer allow me to connect via my email address. Instead, I was forced to either go with their hotmail account (whatever@hotmail.com) or go with their non-email account (whatever@messengeruser.com) to be able to log in. What kind of b*llshit is that?! OMFG… Microsoft…

Geez, that sucks.
One way you could try and recover is if you have logs, the emails addresses should be stored in the logs so you could pull some of them out of there.
Ouch… Well, as I’ve been telling you for ages; switch to Adium!
Btw.. forgot to say; if you have used Adium at some point, running it will restore your online MSN buddy list (Mobile Messenger keeps deleting my list and Adium keeps saving the day).
I concur, that must be a pain in the ass, I advice you to download some tool to back-up your list. Anyways, if the important people say something to you, you’ll be able to get their e-mail addresses back also.

By the way, it’s all restored now. I have Adium running at work and I copied the user folder this morning. I’ve replaced it on my home Mac and… taa daa… you’re all back on my list! But yeah, defo will back up often.

I don’t see you appearing on my MSN anymore.
Really simple to get them back. The same thing happend to me all you do is go to where all you contacts are. Then where your name is next to it theres an arrow click on the arrow and at the bottom of the list there is options click that. then a screen comes up go down to privacy. There will be a thing half way down the page saying contact list next to that there is a view button click that all your conacts will be there that you had before msn lost them. Then all you do is right click them and click add to contacts then you have all you contacts back.
ive just had the same thing, i upgraded to msn 14 (2009 version) because i was using 8.5 now all my contacts are gone.
