Xi’an

… Chinese restaurant specialising in Toshomen (Xi’an is a region in China). Toshomen in Chinese basically translates to ‘knife carved noodles’, you know, where you get the Chinese chef holding a lump of flour while the other hand is carving away at the flour with great accuracy (each strand is roughly the same size in thickness and length) and with each slicing motion, he/she is able to fly the noodles directly into the boiler/pan from a minor distance! That’s entertainment in itself, man.
Xi’an is not really new here and can be found in many places like Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Akihabara, etc. Whenever Hing Dai is in town, we always (and I mean ‘always’) meet up in Akihabara’s Xi’an restaurant which is located in Yodobashi Camera electronics store. From what I remember, we’ve been doing this for as long as Akiba’s Yodobashi has been around (two and a half years?).
Anyway, I’ll leave it here. All the food below plus 2 soft drinks (+ service charge) came to ¥4,920…

Toshomen with braised pork fillet and leeks - ¥850

Fresh cucumber dressed with garlic sauce - ¥630

BBQ spareribs with chinese black vinegar sauce - ¥1,480

Shredded pork ear dressed with hot & spicy sauce - ¥830
Seriously Eddie, you should start up a food blog!
And put ratings, might be handy for people who want to explore some Chinese/Japanese food in Japan.
Just perfect for me. The food looks wonderful and after I can buy lots of camera equipment… ^^;
