iPhone/iPod touch SDK

That’s good news! With the release of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for the iPhone and iPod touch, we can now expect some official softwares (hopefully, decent ones) without the need to jailbreak the devices.
But it’s not all good news for the ‘individual developer’ whom were hoping of making free softwares because they’d need to pay US$99 (annually) to be able to develope and publish for the devices. Then again, US$99 is not a high price to pay considering the developer would be accumulating iPhone-development experience and hopefully an impressive array of softwares for their portfolio…

Look carefully at the Terms of Use. There’s a lot you can’t do with the new SDK.
Free software…..maybe…wait it’s apple…
I applied to download the SDK since yesterday and they still say my download is requesting… heavy server load maybe?
EDIT: nevermind the download works now.. whoa 2.1GB..
My son downloaded the SDK and showed me his “hello world” on the iphone emulator yesterday.
Oh wow… so we have software developers here, eh?
The $99 is ridiculously cheap considering what you get in return. Plus it keeps the idiots out.
On the downside though, your application will not be allowed to run in the background, so you can’t make things like a proper browser, mailer, IM client, RSS reader, etc. Kinda sucks.
