iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz

My 20-inch iMac G5 finally crapped out on me for good last Tuesday - the power unit and the motherboard both went (well, the motherboard was semi gone since last year anyway). It wasn’t even worth considering getting it repaired due to the high cost of both components and labour. Afterall, it is two and a half years old and god knows what other components would blow after I get it repaired. I should have got Apple Care Protection Plan, I should have got it… sigh.

The computer blowing out couldn’t have come at a worse time… for a great deal of reasons. Oh well, it’s a cruel world.

Had to carry this 17kg monster onto the trains. My 7 minute walk from the station home became more like 20 mins. Was huffing, puffing, resting and sweating like crazy.

This iMac came off the production line on my birthday. How cool is that?

The computer is absolutely gorgeous and fast but the 24-inch screen doesn’t feel that much bigger than the 20-inch. Probably cuz I work with a 30-inch at work.

    Congratulations on the new iMac eddie! Sorry to hear that your old iMac died at the wrong time. For some reason my Macs always go at the worst times. ^^;

    My MacBook Pro left production on the same month and day as my last Mac laptop. That Powerbook was one of the best Macs I have ever had. I hope your new iMac will be the same for you.

    Why didn’t you just get it delivered or take a taxi? Anyways, it’s nice to have a new iMac did you get Apple care this time?

    Very nice! 2.8Ghz and 24 inch, that’s my dream computer!

    You heard about the 20 inch ones have defects? I was going to get a 24 inch but it was too expensive.

    2,5 years of life time ?! That’s really short. I use the same PC since 6 years, every day for work, and it doesn’t want to die. That’s stupid, you need to take apple care and pay to have a garanty…

    Most if not all the electronics that I have bought over the last many years, including an iMAC 20″ 2.4GHz and a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz, were mail-ordered from the internet. In the US, buying from the internet is often more convenient and less expensive than from local stores. I guess it is not the case in Japan?

    It is the same here but I really needed a computer on the weekend to do some work hence I decided to carry it home.

    During the first day or two after my computer blew, I couldn’t make a decision about buying a new computer which contributed towards the urgency of getting one home asap…
