International Tokyo Toy Show 2008

Went to the International Tokyo Toy Show 2008 (東京おもちゃショー 2008) today which is held at the Tokyo Big Sight International Exhibition Center in Odaiba.
This show happens every year and is mainly targeted towards young children hence the venue is totally packed out with kids and families. Because it is a toy show for kids, otaku hentai figurines are no where to be seen. Thank god!
That said, there are still some otakus lurking around because a few vendors here specialise in making expensive collectors figures, namely Takara Tomy (Genx Core, Cool Girls, etc. line of collectors figures), Hot Toys (the makers of the new Batman and Joker), and Medicom (although I didn’t see them). And yes, I’m here because I wanted to checkout the collectors figures. To be exact, the Hot Toys ‘Movie Masterpiece’ line of ‘The Dark Knight’ collectors figures.

I also wanted to checkout Takara Tomy’s figures but the queue to get into their massive booth (dominated more space than any other vendor) was estimated at 120 mins! Same goes for Bandai’s equally huge booth. Crazy! No way was I gonna queue - the place was packed, I was sweating like crazy and I felt as if I was gonna pass out.
Anyway, because I have lots of pics of the Hot Toys ‘Dark Knight’ stuff, etc., I’m gonna have to break this expo entry into multiple entries. This very entry has pics of the show in general. Next entry will be the Hot Toys booth.

Insane amounts of people.

Get down and play.

Lego! Don’t you just love Lego?

Wanted to kick these kids off so I can take over… muhahahahaha!

Mystery UFO - some flying disc thingy.

You can buy stuff from these booths.

Sanrio goods, anyone?

All sorts of R2D2 dispensers. Yes, I do know that is R2D2 despute having not seen Star Wars.

Ancient Chinese warriors. I think they’re cute.

Robo creepy crawley.

Shin-chan goods! Shin-chan cracks me up.

The mighty Revoltech figures.

Awwwww… little princess.

The Bandai booth is huge - multiple booths behind (for their multiple brands). Would you queue for 120 mins?

Vroooom, vroooom, you go boy!

Isn’t this an Xbox RPG game character?

USB dogs that do sit ups when connected to your computer. It actually looks rather rude - like it is humping your computer’s USB connector… seriously.

I had a Care Bear when I was younger - the blue Grumpy Bear.

People waiting for some Bandai show to kick off.

My gear.
