ITTS 2008: Hot Toys Dark Knight Batman

Although the Hot Toys’ original Batman and Joker figures, the Batod, and the Batmobile pretty much answers every Bat-fan and figure collectors dreams, the line is still somewhat incomplete. Why? Because we all know Batman gets a new Batsuit half way through the movie therefore how complete will a line of Dark Knight collectibles be without a figure of the new-suit-Batman? Well, hey, hey, hey! Finally, the revealing of Hot Toys ‘Dark Knight’ Batman! Despite being a pretty early prototype, the top half of the suit is already looking very, very tastey!

Most die-hard Batfans could probably already tell you that the headsculpt is wrong on this figure because the mouth opening on the cowl is too wide (the opening is narrower on the new real-life batsuit). The headsculpt we have here is probably moulded from the exact same one from the original suit Batman figure, and is something I fully understand because it is a very good scupt. But at the same time, by doing so, it makes the figure less accurate. Oh well, we can’t have everything, right? Like said, it is still a prototype and because it is not due for launch until ‘October’, we can still hope that a proper Dark Knight cowl/headsculpt is in the works. So yea, fingers crossed for fixes before release!

Will cost JP¥ 22,000

Man, all these figures are frikkin’ awesome! And they’re also darn expensive. If I was to get them all, I’ll need to do more than sell limbs… maybe also sell my… (I’ll leave that to your imagination).

1/6th figures have really come a long way in the last 2 years or so and it seems Hot Toys is currently leading the pack in terms of quality…

I asked the Hot Toys Japan CEO why the Christian Bale headsculpt was facing away and he replied, “We got a call from Warner yesterday saying we cannot show the right side of Bale’s sculpt”. Hahahaha… WTF?

These is awesome. But when Takara made it’s version back in Batman Begins it totally raised the bar. Do you think Takara will also be getting its hands on this Dark Knight suit version?

they might have requested the right side of his face not be shown due to the mole he has on the right side of the bridge of his nose…maybe he trademarked it? haha

I am very impressed with the realism and detail of Dark Knight and Iron Man. I hope they correct the Dark Knight mask to make it more accurate. I am ordering Hot Toys Dark Knight from the Preview catalog.

I hope Hot Toys makes an Adam West Batman, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman and Christopher Reeve Superman.

I hope they add the light up white eyes as a third mask.

The sonar lens Batman uses near the end of the movie. White plastic lenses that light up. It would be a cool effect to have in this action figure. Battery hidden in the mask?
