Nikko highlands
Here are some other pics taken in Nikko. Prior to going to the world heritage site, we were at the Kirifuri Highland which reaches an altitude of between 600 and 1600 meters, and is often covered with fog and mist.
Pic above: some insect on W’s camera

On the train from Utsunomiya to Nikko.

Cable cars to the top of the highlands. What? You expected me to hike?

At 1600 meters. My ears had long popped before then and are still popped now.

Visibility was actually lower than what this pic shows.

Supposedly lots of nice flowers on the highlands but I didn’t see all that many. Probably not the season yet… or the season is over.

Yuba soba – soba with beancurds of all sorts.

Dango – a bit like mochi (rice cake).

Ready! Nice and fresh. Five sticks for JP¥500.

Looks a bit like the hotel from the Japanese anime, Spirited Away, doesn’t it?

Some really old looking Japanese shop.

The streets of Nikko are pretty empty.

The train back to Utsunomiya .

That first picture is ace!
Great photos eddie!
Yes, it does remind me of the hotel from Spirited Away.
