iPhone 3G in Tokyo

Phwoaaaaaaar… what a gorgeous phone! As we all know, the iPhone 3G came out today in Tokyo (and many other countries) and that a crazy load of folks camped out overnight (and longer) at the flagship SoftBank store in Omotesando just so they can secure themselves a unit. Approx. 1,500 people camped out, to be exact. Needless to say, the iPhone 3G is sold out. Of that 1,500 or so, a handful happen to be my friends whom have all pretty much got themselves a brand spanking new iPhone.
But what about me? Well, as mentioned before, I’m not feeling too hot about the SoftBank network therefore I think I will hold off for longer.

Additionally, few weeks ago, I heard from a friend of a friend (whom owns a company which creates and publishes mobile phone softwares in Japan) that there is an internal rumour over at DoCoMo that they too have won the rights to sell the iPhone in Japan. So yeah, I’m kinda hoping that it is true hence I’m gonna wait a bit longer… fingers crossed!
For now, I can only go to a dealer and touch the grubby ones on display…
Em’s already got one and is spending countless hours on it already!
That is interesting about DoCoMo…
I want one but I want to be able to use it in the states and Japan. AT&T is so fond of locking. I need to find out if AT&T will allow me to use my Softbank SIM before I buy an IPhone.
The iPhone is such a great piece of kit!!
Even though the phone function’s not connected yet, just using it as an i-touch is good enough already!
