amamika – contemporary handmade jewelry

Tokyo designer friends of mine, Ippei and Janine, whom recently set up their own jewelry design business named, amamika, was interviewed at Tokyo’s renowned fashion accessory trade show, Rooms, where their amamika brand made it’s debut.

:::::::::::: OOPS! VIDEO NO LONGER AVAILABLE ::::::::::::

Janine interviewed at the Rooms exhibition. First time I’ve ever seen her acting sensibly… hahahhaha (she sits behind me at work, btw).

amamika consists of 4 international designers (2 Japanese, 1 Australian and 1 French) from various design disciplines, collaborating to make unique accessories which are inspired by the details of life.

Not only are their pieces 100% handmade (with silver sterling 950), they also ooze character, uniqueness and quality. Oh, and by the way, the famous accessory shop in Ginza, ‘Atelier Shinji Shop’, happens to be the head company with amamika running their business within the same premises. In short, you get the very best in terms of craftsmanship!

If you have your own unique designs which you want made, you can have a chat with them and see if they’re able to execute it. They’re friendly and approachable and will no doubt help you out. If you quote my name, the great “EDDIE WONG”, you may just get a glass of water for free (with a kick to the head thown in)! Hahahahaha…

Anyway, here are some of amamika‘s pieces:

Those are some refreshingly new and beautiful yet simple pieces
Hope that I in the US will be able to buy one day

(Hello Eddie You do not know me but I’ve been visiting your blog for over four years now but I’ve just never commented)

Eddie, I am so sorry to bother you… just a friend of mine saw me were looking at your site and wondering if she could buy jewelries from JJ, and please me to ask you…

    eddie 2010 February 27th 1:48 am

    @ Wendy
I won’t see JJ till Monday but I’ve sent her a mail. If JJ cannot accept international orders, I’m happy to buy the jewelries on behalf of your friend…

    @ Wendy

    Here’s a reply from JJ:

Yes! We have done many international orders… just not online (for the moment).
We have a Paypal account for international orders, so basically she can just contact me (janine@amamika.com) if there is something specific she has seen on the website, or she wants further details, and I can arrange payment and delivery, etc. directly.

    Thanks.
    JJ
