The Bank Robber Joker headsculpt

As mentioned, my Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker finally arrived yesterday and I’ve just swapped the head over to my original Joker figure. Looks darn frikkin’ awesome!

When the original Joker head (right) was being sculpted, the makers claimed they didn’t have enough information to create an accurate sculpt. So to prove they could do it, they took another stab at it and came out with the Bank Robber Joker.

As I’ve said before, all I wanted is the new Joker headsculpt therefore I’ve decided to sell off everything else (which I haven’t removed) along with the original Joker sculpt. Did consider keeping the original head since it is ‘the original’ but I really doubt I would ever want to display it again.

DISPLAY CASES

Bought some transparent plastic card display cases for JP¥1,113 (US$10) each from Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku. The base and lid is hard perspex.

Because they’re just a flexible sheet of transparent plastic, they fold flat for easy storage unlike the hard perspex types. Plus, these are dirt cheap! Each display measures W21cm x D21cm x H40cm (bigger and smaller sizes available).

Assembled in seconds! They’re a little tall for the 1/6th figures but you could always cut it down since it is just a thin sheet of plastic. Don’t be fooled, they may not be 5mm thick but they’re still pretty solid thanks to the base and lid.

The height of the cases cut down to 35cm (from 40cm). Now they’re the perfect size. Throw in a Gotham city landscape and they look right at home (the backdrop came with the Kotobukiya Dark Knight statue). Dust free from today onwards!

Update: 2009.11.09
Went to buy more cases today. The ones I got last time, the price shot up by 50% (now ¥1,700)! Either they got the prices wrong last time, or they got it wrong this time. I seriously doubt its due to inflation or a price hike.

I’ve had enough people asking for information on these cases. Just like the dude named ‘Alexander’ in the comments at the bottom of this page. Turns out, he is one dumb-f* who is just so dumb, he thought he could get away by leaving multiple idiotic comments on this site (some were even curses) by simply changing his name and email address in the comments field. Doh! Chances are, if you reached this page via a toy forum with some dude going on about these cases, then that dude is probably the idiot l’m rantinig about (well, I definitely know he’s known as Shane X (or Shane Mendez) on SideShow Collectors because he used the same name here and he is currently diverting traffic here).

Anyway, here is the Tokyu Hands Online Store. Some things you need to know:

the website is in ‘Japanese only’ so good luck to those wanting to find the product page but cannot read Japanese
I do not know if the cases are even available online
if you don’t have a Japanese address, you can forget it because they do not take overseas orders

So there you have it. Pretty useless to people living outside of Japan. I have NOTHING else to add to the above therefore further questions regarding the cases will be ignored, period.

Damn, you got the BatPod! Looks awesome. And what’s with that massive collection of figures?!

Nope, I didn’t do anything to the HT TDK. If the Takara Genx Core Batman is any indication, you really shouldn’t play/touch the figure too much otherwise the rubber turns really dull. I haven’t really touched nor moved any limbs on my HT TDK.

Hey there Eddie. I have been a big fan of your website and topis since 2007. I really adore your ideas and interests, as I share a majority of them as well. But now I really need your help. I ordered the Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker about three months ago from Amazon. It came three days ago and my son loved it. Though I really ordered it for myself, seeing that he really likes the figure (probably because we saw the movie about three times in I-max, lol) so I decided to let him keep it. But I can’t seem to find a good display case for the figure. I can’t really offord to get a custom case and there are no shops that sell display cases with the dimmensions that I’m looking for. But those transparent plastic card display cases you bought are just amazing!! You can probably guess where this is going. I know it’s a burden but it would really mean a lot if my son got the display case for the figure. Please, I really need your help, as a fan and fellow collector. If you could just get one of the display cases for me, you would’nt know how happy I’d be. I’m not really a computer person but I’ll try to find some method to pay you. Please, just respond.
