Eco-bags

Bunny eco-bag

Let’s help save the world! I have a good few eco-bags at home which I use when I do grocery shopping in my neighbourhood. I also have one in the office because a lot of times, I would go to the local convenient store and buy coke, crisps, chocolates, etc. I’m definitely not a saint but I ‘try’ to do what I can (which is not much because half the time, I forget to bring the eco-bags, doh!).

Many people will probably not give a damn about the one or two plastic bags they get. I mean, what difference is saving one or two plastic bags gonna make? But because everyone else on the face of this planet pretty much thinks like this, that’s why mother earth is as screwed as it is today. So yeah, at the very least, try to save some resources.

Speaking of plastic bags, I think no where beats Japan in terms of the amount of plastic bags used. For instance, at every bakery: you buy 6 types of pastries, you get 7 plastic bags. One thin translucent plastic bag for each pastry + one large one to carry it all.

In all other shops, if you buy something and waive the bag, they will stick a plastic seal (with the shop name/logo on it) on each and every item you purchase! So, if the store actually uses paper bags, you might as well take that (since it is recycle-able) to avoid wasting plastic seals.

Awesome, huh?

Pic above: most awesome eco-bag! The bag folds out of the bunny’s back! The one on the left shows what the bag looks like with the hollow bunny hanging on it. The ones to the right is with the bag tucked inside. They come in multiple colours: black, gray, orange, purple, and another colour or two. They’re rather pricey though at JP¥4,000.

They have eco-bags (known as BAGS FOR LIFE) over here. They aren’t as stylish as these ones though!

So, you got the one with the two bunnies on them, right?

Nope. Do I really look like the type to walk around with a cutie bunny bag? Plus, they’re all too pricey.

Depending on the location, plastic bags are recycleable.
