Kurara got neutered

… last Saturday and he is finally becoming himself again this last day or two. The first 4-5 days after the surgery, Kurara was rather inactive – spending most of his time lying down in the cage and barely eating nor drinking. Kinda worried me a bit considering with Ulala, he was practically fine the very next day spending his time out of the cage, running around, chewing newspaper, etc. I guess there is a difference between breeds on how they deal with these situations. Or it could just be a personality thing.

When I took Kurara to the vets last Saturday, the vet recognised me right off despite having not visited her since Ulala passed away 2 years ago. When she got Kurara out of the carrier, her first response was, “he’s so small and cute”. I kinda knew this before I got him because the pet shop owner had already mentioned this to me. This was also the reason why a higher price tag was on Kurara compared with his other siblings. Although he was small as a baby, I was expecting him to grow up and become a normal sized Holland Lop, but I was wrong – he remained small. Anyway, she did mention that Holland Lops seemed to be getting smaller these days.

After the vet weighed Kurara (1.28kg), she had him on her lap while she answered quite a few of my questions. She continued her praise, “Rabbits do have different personalities. He is very quiet”. I was also surprised to see Kurara lying on her lap without moving a muscle. With Ulala, he was causing grief to the poor woman… hahaha.

But anyway, now that Kurara is pretty much himself again, I feel relieved. To top it off, I have had Tokyo’s most famous bunny specialists confirm that Kurara is cute and tiny and has a wonderful personality. What more can I ask for?
