Hanamiyama in Fukushima

fukushima.jpg

Went to the famous flower mountain (花見山 Hanamiyama) in Fukushima on the weekend. Since Fukushima is in the north, sakuras usually bloom a few weeks later than Tokyo therefore we thought it was the perfect time to go.

Unfortunately due to the extremely warm weather recently, the sakuras actually bloomed the week before therefore the view was not as dense and pink as it should be – just branches with a few pink leaf or two. Luckily, because the mountain has lots of other flowers too, the rest were still in bloom. So yeah, not too bad I guess…

Beautiful pictures! We just had our annual Azalea Festival here in Wilmington, I love seeing them blooming all over town but after about 2 weeks they start to fade. I wish I had thought to take some pictures, yours are great. :)
