Japanese retro toys

… in Mandarake in Akihabara. Most of the toys are retro, some are not. Man, I had quite a good few of these toys when I was a kid. Wish I kept them.

Japanese retro toys
That was what Doraemon originally looked like in the comics.

Japanese retro toys
Lots of robos. My kinda toy when I was young.

Japanese retro toys
“Transformers, robots in disguise. Transformers, more than meets the eye”. Had quite a few of these too.

Japanese retro toys
Had this too. The white part was white to begin with then it turned stale yellow.

Japanese retro toys
Had some big large plastic robos too but I don’t think they were quite the same as these.

Japanese retro toys
Always loved Japanese packaging. They’re so bright and vivid compared with what we usually get in UK (back then).

Look at these character designs. Now can you understand why I never liked nor saw Star Wars?

Japanese retro toys
Outfits from the anime, Jin-Roh.

Japanese retro toys
Most of the retro stuff here are in pretty good condition and demand a very high price tag.

Japanese retro toys
Had both robos in the top left. Same robos but not the same figures.

Japanese retro toys
Masked Riders/Ultra-man type of characters.

Japanese retro toys
Love the ugly monster villians. They’re so… weirdly cute.

Japanese retro toys
Small plastic, non-painted figures were never my kinda thang~

Japanese retro toys
Parman! From the creators of Doraemon, Q-Taro, Ninja Hattori-Kun and Kaibutsu-Kun, to name a few.

This is newly released: Transformers Mickey. Looks pretty decent! Yes, it does transform.

My all time favs: Space Channel 5

Space Channel 5, part 1 and 2. One of my all time fav games. The styling of the graphics is simply fantastic! I have both 1 and 2 on both the Sega Dreamcast (I still have one and intend to keep it forever) and PS2. Heck, I even have the 3 original soundtrack CDs! “Up, down, up, down, chu, chu, chu!”
