Hot Toys store

Toy Hunters in Mong Kok’s CTMA shopping plaza is the official Hot Toys dealer (the shop is actually owned by Hot Toys) and is where you’ll see all the prototype and released 1/6th action figures. Due to Hot Toys popularity, there is always a bunch of toy-collecting-geeks glued to the window display, like myself.

I’m still rather stoked by how far 1/6th figures have come along during the last 2 short years. They went from smooth skinned and cartoony looking (think Barbie/Ken) to what they are today: life-like qualities with textured skin and tones. No doubt, we’re talking about figures in the US$150 range here therefore they better look nothing short of amazing. But let’s not forget, these collector figures were exactly the same price even back 5 years ago. So yeah, in just 2 years, the quality and craftsmanship of collectors figures increased 100 fold. I guess this is also partly due to the fact that there are more collector figure makers now than before (as well as advanced manufacturing). Competition is definitely a great thing.

Anyway, here are some of the 1/6th figures on window display at Toy Hunters. Most have been released, some are prototypes.
