Ushiku Daibutsu Buddha in Ibaraki
This 100m tall Ushiku Daibutsu buddha statue in Ibaraki is certified by the Guiness Book of Records as being the tallest buddha statue in the world (might have been surpassed recently, though). Had nothing better to do so I gave it a visit yesterday.

Map of the area surrounding the Buddha statue. Not a great deal here besides a lot of grass and trees. The Walnuts Garden behind the statue is actually some kinda animal farm.

Guinness Book of Records certificate: the world’s tallest Buddha statue. The statue of liberty stands at 40m tall, while the Ushiku Daibutsu stands at 100m.

Beautiful surrounding – lots of greenery and zero tall buildings in sight, unlike Tokyo. The air is so much better in Ibaraki.

Looking back – that’s the arch/entrance leading towards the statue.

There’s actually 4 floors inside the statue with art and other spiritual stuff on display. The queue to get in was 40 mins therefore I passed.

The Koi’s are massive and they get close to shore.

You can buy bags of feed. That’s why they get so close – food.

Ushiku Daibutsu from another angle.

You’re free to touch the bunnies, they’re rather tamed.

You can buy a small pot of nuts and feed them.

Goats too – this place is like a zoo!

On the way back to the car, I witnessed something super spiritual! The Ushiku Daibutsu doing the Kamehameha (Fireball move in Dragon Ball)!!

great pics Eddie!
I miss Tokyo …
That Buddha is ginormous! What’s a baby kangaroo doing there…
