Dai Pai Dong
Posted on March 8, 2012
Dai Pai Dong is a type of open-air food stall (although the one I went to wasn’t in the open air) characterised by its untidy atmosphere, the lack of air conditioning, as well as a variety of low priced great dishes.
Dai Pai Dongs were once very popular in Hong Kong (probably form the 60s onwards?) but there really isn’t many around these days. It’s kinda sad considering Dai Pai Dongs were one of the unique things that set HK apart. Now-a-days, there are just a heapload of shopping malls creeping up on every corner to please the mega-rich mainland Chinese tourists.
Feasting on some good food with Mike.
