Background
(this is something from my previous website back in 2005. Too lazy to update this but will do so as soon as ’some things’ become official)
Born and bred in her Majestey’s Great Britannia sometime in the seventies. My major was Graphic Arts at LJMU, whose head of the course back then was David Crow, one of the country’s most respected and acknowledged designers at the international level.
As far as I can remember, I became addicted to drawing from around the age of six. From there, I gradually became interested in art throughout my primary and secondary school days. Then naturally, my interest leaped into the field of graphic communications.
Before entering University, I spent approx. 18 months working in Hong Kong as a graphic designer (HK’s hustle and bustle had always fascinated me). This exposure has since allowed me to bridge design styles between the east and the west.
It was while I was still in Hong Kong, I realised that there was so much more in the field of graphic design I have yet to learn therefore I decided to return to England to pursue my career. Three years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (w/honours) degree in Graphic Arts. The following year, I packed for the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan’s hustle and bustle had always fascinated me too).
I am currently employed as art director with the responsibility of leading the creative department for one of the largest bilingual web consultancy and web production companies in Japan. During the course of this employment, I have obtained a comprehensive understanding of user-centred design issues from previously attending in-house lectures by and working directly with internationally renowned Information Architect, Adam Greenfield, and from everyday web-project exposure. I have directed and/or designed online and offline media for prestigious national and international companies such as Sony, Panasonic, Toyota, Clarion, EU Japan, SRI Group (Dunlop, Good Year, Falcon), Daiwa Securities, Eli Lilly Japan and many others.
