Dr. Slump mini cards
Bought these Dr. Slump mini trading cards from Yahoo auction on the weekend for ¥1,000 (but shipping cost me a whopping ¥630!). They’re from the early 80s and are brand new. The box contains 30 or so packets of cards with each packet containing 4 mini cards.

2 commentsSLUMP THE BOX 2 figures
… on display in Yodobashi Akiba! These are the next set of 15 figures that will come with the final Dr Slump DVD box set, Slump The Box - Hoyoyo Edition, which will begin shipping on September 14th.
These ’set 2′ figures were displayed right next to the ’set 1′ figures and I was really surprised to see that the ’set 2′ figures are actually bigger than those from ’set 1′! What’s with that?! I mean, if we were to display all 30 figures together, it would look really silly cuz some of the figure’s ratio are a little odd. For instance, Suppaman (Superman) is actually pretty short in the anime - the same height and size ratio as Norimaki Senbe (Dr Slump). But because Senbe came with ’set 1′ and Suppaman comes with ’set 2′, Suppa-man is actually bigger than Senbe when placed next to each other. This is just so, so silly! I’m pretty bummed about this… but I still want ‘em!

Well, as I’ve covered before here, the period for which you should have ordered your SLUMP THE BOX - NCHA DVD set ended on Monday. The page for ordering has also been removed. Does this mean, if you didn’t order, there’s no way that you can get them afterwards (besides eBay)? Hmmmmm… I’m wondering if some stores will stock ‘em. We’ll find out soon enough (March 23, shipping).
Anyway, the accompanying 15 figures were revealed a month or so ago and they’ve now thrown in an extra one too, Mecha toriyama, bringing the total number of figures to 16!
You know, being one of the biggest Dr Slump fans, I didn’t order. I so wanted to but this set of DVDs is priced at ¥105,000! This will be a little forgive-able if it contained all 243 episodes but it only contains half of that. The 2nd set coming on September 14, SLUMP THE BOX - HOYOYO, will contain the rest of the episodes (and unconfirmed goodies) and will set you back another ¥105,000! That’s ¥210,000 to own ‘em all! Sadly, I’m just not in a position to spend this kinda money right now.

I finally got to watch a handful of the real-life TV drama version of the anime, Chibi Maruko-chan! And just like the anime, Maruko-chan is adorable! I love it!

Apparently so, according to this poster on the train. The drama version came out on DVD on October 27. I’d love to watch one…
Update: 2006 November 3
Yes, a real-life drama does exist and I can’t believe I missed it! Here is the official website. And here are the opening and closing themes. Isn’t she kawaii?
