Here’s to the Crazy Ones

The now iconic quote debuted in a 1997 television commercial for Apple Computer. The text was said to have been mostly written by then Apple CEO Steve Jobs. He embodied the characteristics in this quote arguably better than anyone in history. Today it lives on as a mantra for artists, inventors, entrepreneurs and innovators around the world.

Tribute to Steve Jobs

Modified my iPhone with a Steve Jobs rear panel…

“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

Apple iPhone event on October 4th

Rumour has it, the new iPhone will launch on 14th October, including in Japan. Whether this is true or not, we will find out on October 4th at Apple’s iPhone event.

As for me, I will wait till next year to see if KDDI AU has indeed landed the next iPhone or not. If the device has not been redesigned, I may even wait it out until the model after (Sep 2012). We shall see…

iPad stylus

We all use a stylus at work. For note taking on the iPad, a stylus is a must. Having notes in digital form is not only eco-friendly, but it’s much easier to file (categories) and easier to bring up.

Before, I would go through 7-8 notebooks a month (you should see my desk) and never am able to find the notes I need to refer to…

KDDI set for iPhone 5

KDDI Corp. (9433) will begin selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone 5 in the first quarter of 2012, The Nikkei learned Thursday.

The deal will allow the Japanese telecom firm to offer the latest version of the popular smartphone, ending Softbank Corp.’s (9984) exclusive deal with Apple in Japan and possibly shaking up the cell phone market.

If this is indeed true, hallelujah! I have hated SoftBank since day one – the network performance is beyond crap and I hate the way SB does business.

I will switch back to AU in a heartbeat!

From Lion back to Snow Leopard

Ever since installing Mac OSX Lion, a handful of my applications have been crawling. Tried various methods to fix the issue but to no avail (maybe my Mac is too old). I guess one way is probably to do a clean install directly with Lion but that is just my guess hence I couldn’t be bothered trying and restored to Snow Leopard. Everything is now fast again. Shame my Lion hadn’t been fed…

“Steve Jobs’s departure as chief executive officer this week leaves Apple Inc. (AAPL) without the full- time attention of its technology visionary, putting pressure on head product designer Jonathan Ive to fill that gap. ”

Bloomberg

“A woman thought she got a bargain when she bought what she thought was an iPad in a McDonald’s parking lot.

Ashley McDowell, 22, only discovered after she got home that she’d splashed out $180 – for an iPlank.

Instead of the cutting edge tablet, she got a block of painted wood with an Apple logo.”

Not a very useful app but pretty cool nevertheless…

First photo of Steve Jobs since resignation

If the photo of Steve Jobs in this article is not doctored in anyway, things are really not looking good for the Apple founder. It is heartbreaking to have to see someone fighting a disease like cancer.

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”
