Official PS3 website LIVE
Sony Japan launches their PlayStation 3 Official website today. Also launched alongside the PS3 website is PlayStation 3 Concept, a place where developers talk about the concept of the machine and some of it’s games.
Both sites do not have too much content right now. The PS3 site only has hardware spec and a list of the announced games. The PS3 Concept site has the Gran Turismo producer raving over the machine and it’s graphics capabilities. Yep, very limited in content right now but expect it to grow quickly real soon…
1 commentRevenge of the sock
Remember those silly iPod socks by Apple that sold like hot cakes (I have ‘em too)? Well, some maker has caught on with the ever-so-popular Ninendo DS Lite and released a similar product named, Lite Slipon. And, thank god, unlike Apple’s “you have to buy all 6 colours in a box for ¥3,500″, you can buy only the colour you desire. Just for a mere ¥660!
In this shop, I only saw these five variations: pink sock, grey sock, blue sock, gold leather-like pouch, and silver-leather like pouch. There is no price difference despite the difference in materials used. So far, my sister’s kids in England have asked me to get them a grey and blue one. I’m a little tempted to get one too despite having given them up the last time around…
3 commentsPanasonic Lumix L1 + others
Yes, the Panasonic Lumix L1 D-SLR is finally here and boy does it look and feel super-retro! For whatever reason, the Lumix L1 is not getting anywhere near the amount of attention the Sony a100 is getting. There’s only 2 Lumix L1s on display and no one is really looking at them. Instead, the crowd is sucking up to Sony’s a100! And they have 8 on display! Hmmmmm…..
Panasonic’s Lumix L1 does not come cheap. It costs more than a Nikon D200 and it virtually doubles the price of Sony’s a100. I mean, that’s a pretty bold move (the pricing) from Panasonic because just like Sony’s a100, the Lumix L1 is Panasonic’s first stab at D-SLR market. Yes, I know and am sure the Leica lenses are top notch but hey, the Carl Zeiss lenses on Sony’s a100 is no slouch either. So yeah, the pricing is something worthy of debate.
No commentsPokemon DS Lite
Nintendo seems to have got into the habit of pumping out new colours and special editions of their DS Lite, now-a-days. Hot on the heels of the Final Fantasy edition comes the Pokemon edition which will be available from 1st September. I think this Pokemon DS Lite is rather cute with Pikachu faces on the front of the cover.
But why didn’t Nintendo go all the way and make this DS unit in yellow, or orange, or any other colour? Same goes for the Final Fantasy edition. Personally, I think these special editions would be more unique if they were made in a colour that is different from all the stand-alone units. Don’t you think? So, come on Nintendo, if you’re gonna make these units special, then put a little more effort into it and make them special.

1. Sony a100 D-SLR
The Sony a100 came on sale today and Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara had a good 8-10 units on display for all those enthusiasts to get their grubby hands on. And I was one of them. Hahahahahha…. anyway. The cam is very nice in appearance and feels well built but the material quality on the other hand is… erm… dunno how to say. Lets put it this way, the material on the Sony does not feel as nice as those of the Nikon D200 and Canon 30D, but it is 1000x better than the material on the Canon Digital KISS (which in my opinion, has the cheapest material on any D-SLR). The menu layout is pretty simple and usable, but having 2 dials feels a bit weird. But all-in-all, the Sony is nicer than I had expected. But still, when it comes to D-SLRs, my preferred choices is still Nikon and Canon.
押忍!闘え!応援団
押忍!闘え!応援団 (Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) is a unique Nintendo DS game which came out last year in July and is actually a little difficult to find now-a-days. Most DS owners decided to jump on the DS bandwagon because of this game.
This game is kinda like “Simon Says”: you see things appear on the screen and you have to follow using the stylus (tap, draw, etc.), accordingly. With each correct move, you are also contributing a beat to the game’s music. The concept of the game goes like this: you take control of a band of male cheerleaders and your job is to motivate someone to achieve whatever they set out to do.
