TMNT official website

A pretty decent and atmospheric website (amid a bit dark and heavy) for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles CG movie…
No commentsTransformers, robots in disguise
With Christmas just around the corner, Michael Bay, the director of the upcoming Transformers movie, has an early Christmas prezzy for all you Transformers fans out there who can’t wait to see his new movie - a new trailer is now available (and in Hi-Def too!). Although it’s still in the form of a teaser as opposed to a full-blown trailer, I guess you guys should be happy with any amount of footage you can scrape.
To be honest (if you even care), I do not have high hopes for this movie at all (crap cast and iffy robos). I think it’ll end up being like the Godzilla movie - a complete flop! Hahahahahahaha. Thank god there’ll be Spider-Man 3 around the same time (which launches 2 months before)…
Synopsis
4 commentsThe Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.
New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer
… over at MTV! Sadly, the trailer is in crappy Flash format which basically means, blurry, choppy and crappy stream. I wonder how long it takes before a QuickTime version appears on Apple. I’m dying to watch it again in Hi-Def glory…
The CG is pretty awesome and atmospheric. It is rather dark and gritty in appearance but because Michealangelo’s “Cowabunga dude” humour has been brought over, I wouldn’t expect anything other than, it’s a kids movie. Anyway, overall it seems like a fun movie. I’m definitely gonna see it!
Synopsis
After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters go’s mad after he was wrongfully fired, begins amassing an army of ancient monsters. Realizing his plan is succeeding, he is no longer sarisfied with Vegence against his ex- employer but now has thirst for World Domination.
Update 2006.12.22: QT version of the trailer, new hi-res movie stills, and voicing info.
1 commentLeaked! Venom from SpiderMan 3!
This shot of Venom is from the exclusive trailer which was shown 4 months ago exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer contains a lot of unfinished CG scenes where everything, from Spidey to the city scape, were all raw shaded polygons. Although this trailer made the rounds on the net shortly after the Comic-Con event, the quality was rather bad as the footage was filmed on a cellphone. It was so blurry, you basically see nothing!
Well, months later, with many fans complaining that the Venom didn’t make an appearance in the newly released trailer, somebody, somewhere decided to leak a good copy of this Comic-Con trailer in the last few days. Apparently, it had appeared on YouTube but was pulled off at the request of Sony about 5 hours after it appeared (don’t quote me on it, though).
But anyway, as we all know how great the internet is, I managed to see a QuickTime version of it just before. How is it? Well, I personally think this trailer should have been the one that was released last week (amid with the finished CG)!
2 commentsExclusive Spider-Man 3 trailer
I knew from a while back that the new Spider-Man 3 trailer would be attached to the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale, which debuts next week in US, but to my surprise, Sony decided to release the Spidey trailer today exclusively to some TV networks in US. Well, thank god for the internet, I just got to see it!
Well, despite all the hype, it turns out to be… something that didn’t make me wet my pants. Maybe it’s because I expected to see some kick-butt Venom action in this trailer (just like a lot of people). Sadly, you don’t get that. Instead you get to see a lot of Sandman, Peter Parker in the Black Spidey suit, and Mary Jane. Also, a lot of the plot is revealed.
2 commentsKnight Rider the movie
Yeah, baby! KITT, the talking and jumping car I loved from my childhood days (early 80s, my friend) is ready to make a splash on the big screen in 2008! KITT sure looks sexy here but I wonder who will play Michael Knight…
10 commentsSuperman Returns
Finally watched Superman Returns today with Casey in some far off land. Today is the movie’s debut in Japan - nearly a whole 2 months after America’s release! And the cinema we were in was half empty. Can’t say the same for cinemas in Tokyo with a new film screening.
Anyway, the movie was not as good as I had expected but I still enjoyed it to a high degree. And boy, does Superman benefit from today’s CGI technology or what? He looked great! I personally think the casting of Brandon Routh as Superman and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther are absolutely perfect choices! Brandon looked convincingly cool as Superman and convincingly nerdy as Clark Kent. And Kevin Spacey, he was pure wacky as Lex Luther!
Massive spoiler! Turn away now if you haven’t seen the movie yet…
2 commentsThe Departed
As soon as I finished watching the trailer for this movie, the brilliant HK movie, Infernal Affairs (無間道), came to mind. And a quick research on the web reveals, The Departed is indeed the American film remake of the popular Hong Kong crime thriller.
The Departed is directed by Martin Scorsese, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio (in Andy Lau’s role), and Matt Damon in (Tony Leung’s role). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
To be honest, not sure I like the look and feel of this remake, though. The original had a much more atmospheric touch (mood, settings, colour, etc.) which made it look serious, gritty, dark and mysterious. Oh well, when did Hollywood ever re-make a foreign movie to better the original anyway…? Oh, oh, oh, and should we expect everything blowing up and lots of bloody gun battles too? Hee…
Synopsis
Undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to bust the syndicate run by mob boss Costello (Jack Nicholson). Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is a criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer. When the two are in danger of being exposed, each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.
黑社會 2
Election 2 is this years sequel to last years hit Election (some may remember from my old blog, my friend Mike in HK sent me the Election 1 DVD earlier this year). For those that don’t know this movie, Election is a 2005 Hong Kong movie telling the story about the internal process of selecting a chairman to lead the Wo Sing triad society (triad is the name for HK gansters. Just like Mafia for Italy, Yakuza for Japan, Ganster for US, etc.). Strangely, the Cantonese title reflects nothing regarding an election, but is plainly dubbed 黑社會 (Hak Se Wui), which translates directly into English as black society (cantonese for triads).
