… to this very minute, the precious little guy set off for the rainbow bridge.
Missed him ever since.
Cellphone pics of Ulala

Ulala (XX Nov 2001 – 18 Apr 2007)
Here are some collage of Ulala photos taken via my many cellphones during the last few years. I have more cellphone pics of Ulala than from a normal camera since my cellphone is always close by allowing me to take snaps of him whenever I feel like…

49th day – end of mourning
… so says the Japanese (and maybe Chinese). In reality, mourning and grieving lasts much longer.

Thinking about the little guy
The weather in Tokyo has been truly terrific recently. Well, today is actually pretty windy but the sun is shining and the temperature is great. After going to the supermarket, on my way back, I decided to take the route that leads to the mini garden where I often chilled out with Ulala on nice days. As you can see, more flowers have grown and its pretty dense now compared with last month when I was here with Ulala last. Ulala would be estatic to see all these flowers – he’d probably trample all over them.

Ulala as my logo

Despite being educated as a graphic designer, I have never actually created a symbol for myself. Reason being, as a graphic designer, we are always tied to concept and theme (which I will not go into). This means, at the very least, my logo has to say what I do and who I am, etc.

Ulala has just been cremated. Ulala is finally at rest.
Thanks for all your concerns. Much appreciated.
Farewell, my boy

Ulala has just left my arms and on his way to a much better place (4:32pm)
Ulala
Thanks for all the joys, happiness and memories.
You’ll forever be loved and missed, immensely.
R.I.P., my boy…

Ulala can barely sit up, eat nor drink. He’s just lying near my room looking life-less, twitching and drenched in diarrhea. Seen the vet twice already. Had 3 shots. Had blood test. Had medication. In fact, he’s become worse. This evening while force feeding him, he just lied there on his back on my lap without even the energy to hold up his head. Gone is the shine in his beautiful eyes. He is not the same little rebel I know of. Force feeding him has become difficult because he refuses to swallow, instead, the food and liquid is pouring back out of his mouth. At that point, I really thought he was making his journey across the rainbow…
It’s my 32nd birthday tomorrow. What more can I possibly wish for than for my little fella to recover…
UPDATE 2007.04.18 @ 13:30
I’ve left Ulala at the vets and will be returning to pick him up at 4pm. The vet tells me Ulala’s survival rate is a little low but she will do all she can…
UPDATE 2007.04.18 @ 15:50
I got an emergency call from the vets at 2:30pm notifying me that Ulala’s condition had deteriorated therefore I should go there right away.
Ulala is now home with me but he is semi-unconscious. The vet tells me, today is probably his last day. To say I am sad right now is horribly understated. I loved him dearly. No words can describe the pain I am currently going through and have been for the last few days…
I will not be online as of now until whenever. Thanks for all the wishes.
7 commentsToo late for sakura

I’ve been quite busy during the last 6 days in which I didn’t get a chance to leave my apartment, at all. I think this will continue for at least another full week. Obviously, being stuck at home, I feel quite sick therefore I went out with Ulala for about 45 mins today for some fresh air. I wanted to take some pics of Cherry blossoms near my place but I guess I’ve missed it. Most of the sakura has fallen off making the trees look quite shabby with whats left on them, damn! I knew I should have went out last weekend to take some pics! Oh well..

Ulala is 100% back! From the day after his surgery, he’s been acting as if the operation never happened at all! Tearing magazines and newspapers, jumping on and off the sofa, chewing on the rug, running into other rooms, + all the usual bunny mischiefs.
Ulala has always been rather rebelious and usually demands quite a bit of attention otherwise you’d have nothing left of your favourite Armani Jeans, your favourite magazines, etc. Come to think of it, I’m actually beginning to feel grateful that he is such a naughty boy. This factor probably contributed to his fast recovery.
Anyway, it’s great he is doing so well. My worries have been put to rest. And, thanks for all the well wishes.

Well, here he is. Isn’t he strong?
As soon as I entered the clinic to pick up Ulala after his operation, I could already see the top of his head moving around in the cage. The vet also told me that he ate cabbage as soon as he woke up… hahahahaha. When the vet transferred him into the carry case, he pee’d himself. I’m not sure if he lost control due to the operation, or he was trying to make himself safe by marking territory. But anyway…
When I got him home, I placed him deep inside his cage but he came out right away to drink water. He then ran and circled the living room before going back into the cage and lied down. Every now and again he gets up and looks around and drink lots of water before lying down again. I think he is trying hard to break out of the effects of the anaesthetics. Pain-wise, its kinda suppressed right now via an injection. From tomorrow, I’d have to feed him pain killers.
4 commentsFeels weird without Ulala
By now, I guess Ulala’s operation is over and he’s probably about to wake up soon. I dropped him off at the rabbit specialists this morning at 10:30am and will need to go to pick him up at 5pm.
After leaving the vets, I went to a pet store to buy a new hard carry case and a few pet blankets. I already have a carry case for Ulala but it is a soft case which makes it hardly ideal to carry the poor fella in after an operation especially considering it will be rush hour on the trains when I pick him up. Anyway, the shop had the case I wanted but it was only available in green, not the beige I wanted. I was tempted to go to another pet store to find a beige one but since I have ¥3,000 worth of points at this shop, it would have been silly to go elsewhere and pay full price for one since I’m pretty sure the case will only be used for this one occasion.
No commentsTwo days to go

Ulala will undergo an operation this Friday to remove a big tumour from the lower left-side of his back as well as to get neutered (for a happier, healthier and longer life). I’m not looking forward to this weekend…
4 commentsUlala slowly passing out
… behind the living room mirror (which happens to be the entrance to my room). Rabbits are always on high alert, even when they are asleep. This is hardly surprising considering these cute and quiet animals are at the very bottom of the food chain.
Anyway, Ulala when asleep, from my slightest of movements (and I mean slightest), one of his ears will first shoot up into alert mode followed by the other ear, then he would open his eyes and stare at me. If I get up and walk somewhere, he’d get up too. But if I stayed still, he would slowly fall asleep again only to be woken again if I moved a finger.
So, to get this shot of Ulala being very close to deep sleep, was not easy. I had to stay seated with the camera in my hands pointing at Ulala the whole time while keeping very still. It felt like I was in this position for a decade before Ulala finally fell asleep. And yes, rabbits do snore… quite loudly too.

I was chilling this afternoon with Ulala at the usual spot cuz the weather was beautiful (after 2 days of solid rain). I decided to catch up with all my unread Metropolis magazines (a free foreigner magazine) there while Ulala hanged out beneath my feet. But as usual, he prefers to sit on my lap. And as you can see, he’s enjoying the magazine too and checking out the chick next to the huge Gundam… hahahaha! Anyway, I couldn’t get much reading done with him on my lap.
Suddenly, I spotted a cat appearing from beneath the bushes and sat down nearby staring at Ulala. Ulala also spotted the cat but he’s usually cool with cats because a few years ago, I had to go back to England for 2 weeks therefore I left him with a friend who owned 3 very old cats. I heard from my friend that Ulala would approach the cats face-to-face whenever he got his run-a-about. But obviously, with the cats being so old, they neglected him… hahahahaha… poor Ulala.
2 commentsUlala bonanza!
I was going through my backup hard drives today searching for some old design files of mine as well as clearing out some old data then I came across hundreds of cellphone pics of Ulala.
I always have my cellphone close by at home regardless if I’m watching TV, working, or eating. A lot of times I snap pics of Ulala just for the sake of annoying him. Hahahahahaha… yeah, he doesn’t like having the cellphone pointed at him and the shutter sound (which is friggin’ loud and annoying on Japanese cellphones. And no, you can’t disable it) usually drive him nuts. Whenever I leave my cellphone lying around within his reach, he would pick up the cellphone and fling it across the room! You should see some of the scars on my phone (namely teeth marks).
